NCCS 11th Annual General Assembly

Dear Community Members,


We are immensely pleased to inform that Nepalese Canadian Community Services (NCCS) successfully held its 11th Annual General Assembly on Sunday April 29, 2012 at 237 Sackville Street,  Toronto. The General Assembly has unanimously elected the new executive committee for the next two - year tenure. It passed the annual financial and progress report and also amended the By –laws as per the need of the organization. The amended provisions of the By –laws will be updated in the official website of the organization shortly.
 The Assembly was marked by overwhelming participation of the community members who provided their invaluable inputs to drive and strengthen the community works.          
The members of the new executive committee are as follows:

International Women's Day 2012

Dear all Nepalese community members,

The International Women's day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. This year International Womens Day marks 101 years of womens achievements since its inaugaration in 1911.

The NCCS celebrated its 3rd Annual International Womens Day Celebration here in Toronto, Canada on Saturday, March 10, 2012. This program offered ways for women of Nepalese origin of all walks of life to speak about their struggles in their various occupations and how they got there. This type of program gave women a chance to have a voice where they may not usually have been able to. Many of our speakers offered advice on how important being a women in todays world is and will provide knowledge on various occupations detaling in possible education pathways, how to find a job, what kind of skills are necessary etc.
The programme act as an information session and provided a lot of useful knowledge to all, not just women.

This year Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam become our chief guest. She is a city councilor in Toronto, Canada. She is councillor for the Toronto Centre-Rosedale electoral district (Ward 27). Wong-Tam, who is Chinese Canadian has been an activist for both LGBTQ and Asian Canadian community issues, serving on the Chinese Canadian National Council and helping to found Asian Canadians For Equal Marriage. We are proud to have such a social activist woman with us to mark such an important day.

We would like to sincerely thank to our Chief Guest Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam , Tristan A Downe-Dewdney and all the participants at this years event. The information you have provided touches others in ways you may not know and benefits the community as a whole.

We would also like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate this day with us. We had a bigger turnout this year than last year and hope it gets bigger and bigger each year.

Women all over the world need a platform where they are able to be heard. We at the NCCS are proud to be able to provide this for Nepalese women in Toronto. See you again next year!

Dashain Celebration 2011

Dearest Community Members, Brothers and Sisters,

Dashain is the 15-day national (religious) festival of Nepal. It is the longest and the most auspicious festival in the Nepalese annual calendar, celebrated by Nepalese of all caste and creed throughout the globe. Because this is such a sacred festival for all of us as Nepalese, we here at the NCCS would like to cordially invite you to join us and celebrate the festivities this year on Saturday, October 1st 2011 at 6pm. Dashain is a time of gathering with all family and friends, so join us as we join together as a community and celebrate!!!

Live music, dance, a cultural program alongside a succulent buffet dinner will guarantee that you will have the time of your life. As well, the night will also be broadcast live on www.torontonepal.com. It will be a night and a Dashain that you will never forget so mark your calendars from now and make sure to get your tickets ASAP!

Children: (4 years old and under): FREE
Senior's over 65 years: FREE
