नेपाली नयाँबर्ष- २०८१ को उपलक्ष्यमा Nepalese Canadian Community Services (NCCS) ले 13 April, 2024, शनिवारका दिन बिहान ११:०० बजे टोरन्टो डाउनटाउनको न्याथम फिलिप स्क्वायरमा अवस्थित टोरन्टो माहानगरकको सरकारी भवनामा आयोजना गरेको नेपालको राष्ट्रिय झण्डोतोलन कार्यक्रम भब्यताका साथ सम्पन्न भएको छ । 

आफ्नो स्थापना काल देखिनै NCCS ले बिभिन्न कार्यक्रम मार्फत नेपाली भाषा, संस्कृति, कला, गितसंगित तथा भेषभुषाको संरक्षण र सम्वर्धनमा अहंम् भुमिका खेल्दै आएको याहाँहरूमा विदितै छ । 

यस संस्थाले लिएको पहलकदमि, पत्राचार, छलफल तथा सहकार्य पश्चात क्यानडाकै सबै भन्दा ठुलो शहरको रूपमा स्थापित टोरोन्टो माहानगरले उसको सरकारी भवनमा नेपालको राष्ट्रिय झण्डा २४ घण्टा सम्म राख्न दिने गरि नेपाली नयाँबर्षको दिन झण्डोतोलन गर्ने स्विकृति प्रदान गरेको थियो । 

इतिहासमै पहिलो पटक नेपाली राष्ट्रिय झण्डा, क्यानडाकै ठुलो सहरको सरकारी भवनमा फरफराउन पाउनुले स्वेदेश ताथा बिदेशमा रहेका हामी नेपालीहरूलाई खुशि तथा गौरवान्वित बनाएको हामिले महसुस गरेकाछौ । साथै यस संस्थाले नेपाल र नेपालीहरूको इज्जत, सम्मन तथा पहिचान स्थापित गर्ने यस्ता कार्यक्रमहरूलाई भविश्यमा समेत निरन्तरता दिने छ भन्ने हाम्रो विश्वास छ ।

 कार्यक्रमको प्रमुख अतिथि क्यानाडाका लागि नेपाली राजदूत भरतराज पौडेल थिए। उनले संक्षिप्त सम्बोधन गर्दै सबैलाई नयाँ वर्षको शुभकामना दिएका थिए।

कार्यक्रम संस्थाका सभापति थमनाथ अधिकारी र अध्यक्ष बिना बर्माले संयुक्त रूपमा सुरुवात गरेका थिए। त्यस अवसरमा क्यानाडामा रहेका विभिन्न क्रियाशील नेपाली सङ्घसंस्थाका पदाधिकारीहरू, पत्रकार आदीको उपस्थित थियो।

महासचिव सुदर्शन सापकोटाले सञ्चालन गरेको कार्यक्रम संस्थाका सभापति थमनाथ अधिकारीको अध्यक्षतामा सम्पन्न भएको थियो।

In a vibrant display of unity and cultural celebration, Toronto City Hall became a beacon of Nepali heritage as it hosted a grand flag-raising ceremony in honor of the Nepali New Year. The event, organized by the Nepalese Canadian Community Services (NCCS), drew a large crowd of community members, dignitaries, and well-wishers.

The highlight of the ceremony was the raising of the Nepali flag, symbolizing the rich traditions and values cherished by the Nepali diaspora in Canada. The flag fluttered proudly against the backdrop of City Hall, evoking a sense of pride and togetherness among attendees. “I am delighted to see such a wonderful turnout for this auspicious occasion,” remarked Bina Berma, President of NCCS.” This event not only celebrates the New Year but also reinforces the strong bonds of community and culture that unite us all.”

Community leaders and representatives from various Nepali organizations shared messages of hope, unity, and prosperity for the year ahead. Among the esteemed guests was Bharat Raj Paudel, Nepal’s Ambassador to Canada, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Ambassador Paudel delivered a heartfelt address, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting Nepali heritage in the global landscape. “I am honored to be part of this joyous celebration,” said Ambassador Paudel. “Events like these not only showcase our cultural richness but also strengthen the bonds between Nepal and the vibrant Nepali community here in Canada.”

The ceremony concluded with a sense of camaraderie and optimism for the future. As attendees dispersed, the spirit of unity and cultural pride lingered, leaving a lasting impression on all who were present. The Nepali flag-raising ceremony at Toronto City Hall served as a testament to the thriving Nepali community in Canada and the enduring significance of cultural heritage in fostering harmony and mutual respect among diverse populations.
