Nepalese Canadian Community Services (NCCS) को आयोजनामा, नेपाली नयाँ वर्ष २०८२ को उपलक्ष्यमा १४ अप्रिल २०२५, सोमबार बिहान ११:३० बजे टोरन्टो डाउनटाउनस्थित प्रतिष्ठित न्याथन फिलिप्स स्क्वायरमा रहेको टोरन्टो सिटी हलको सरकारी भवनमा नेपालको राष्ट्रिय झण्डा भव्य रूपमा फहराइएको छ।

क्यानडाको सबैभन्दा ठूलो तथा बहुसांस्कृतिक शहर टोरन्टोको केन्द्रमा नेपालको राष्ट्रिय झण्डा फहरिनु सम्पूर्ण नेपाली समुदायका लागि अत्यन्त गौरवको क्षण बनेको छ। यो ऐतिहासिक अवसरले विदेशमा रहेका नेपालीहरूको सांस्कृतिक पहिचान, आत्मसम्मान र एकतालाई थप सशक्त बनाएको छ।

Nepalese Canadian Community Services (NCCS) ले नेपाली भाषा, कला, संस्कृति, भेषभूषा र मौलिक पहिचानको संरक्षण तथा प्रवर्द्धनमा निरन्तर योगदान दिँदै आएको छ। संस्थाको पहल, संवाद र समन्वयपछि टोरन्टो महानगरपालिकाले नयाँ वर्षको दिन नेपालको राष्ट्रिय झण्डा २४ घण्टासम्म आफ्नो सरकारी भवनमा फहराउन दिने स्वीकृति दिएको हो।

कार्यक्रममा प्रमुख अतिथि प्रसिद्ध नेपाली गायक प्रमोद खरेल थिए। उनले संक्षिप्त सम्बोधन गर्दै सबैलाई नयाँ वर्ष २०८२ को शुभकामना व्यक्त गरे र कार्यक्रममा सहभागी हुन पाएकोमा गर्व महसुस भएको बताए।

कार्यक्रममा NCCS की अध्यक्ष बिना वर्मा र NRNA क्यानडाका महासचिव चन्दा अधिकारीले विशेष सम्बोधन गरेका थिए। उनीहरूले क्यानडामा रहेका नेपाली समुदायको एकता, सांस्कृतिक सम्पदा र पहिचानलाई बलियो बनाउने कार्यमा यस्ता कार्यक्रमहरूको ठूलो महत्व रहेको उल्लेख गरे।

कार्यक्रमको सभापतित्व NCCS की अध्यक्ष बिना वर्माले गर्नुभएको थियो भने सञ्चालन महासचिव सुदर्शन सापकोटाले गर्नुभएको थियो। कार्यक्रममा क्यानडामा क्रियाशील विभिन्न नेपाली संघ–संस्थाका प्रतिनिधिहरू, सञ्चारकर्मी, समाजसेवी तथा समुदायका सदस्यहरूको उल्लेखनीय उपस्थिति रहेको थियो।

झण्डोत्तोलन कार्यक्रमले नेपाल र नेपालीको गौरवलाई अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय स्तरमा अझ उजागर गरेको छ। Nepalese Canadian Community Services ले यस्ता अर्थपूर्ण कार्यक्रमहरूलाई आगामी दिनहरूमा पनि निरन्तरता दिने प्रतिबद्धता गरेका छन्! 

Toronto, April 14, 2025 — In a proud and symbolic celebration of Nepali identity, the Nepalese Canadian Community Services (NCCS) hosted a flag-raising ceremony on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the iconic Nathan Phillips Square, the front plaza of Toronto City Hall, to mark the arrival of Nepali New Year 2082.

The hoisting of Nepal’s national flag at the heart of Canada’s largest and most multicultural city was a moment of immense pride for the entire Nepali community. This historic event not only celebrated the New Year but also amplified the cultural identity, dignity, and unity of Nepalis living abroad.

NCCS has been consistently working to preserve and promote Nepali language, art, culture, traditional attire, and unique heritage. After months of dialogue and coordination led by the organization, the City of Toronto granted official approval for Nepal’s national flag to be raised at its municipal building for a full 24 hours in honor of the Nepali New Year — marking a significant milestone in cultural representation.

The event’s chief guest was renowned Nepali singer Pramod Kharel, who expressed his warm New Year wishes and shared his pride in being part of such a meaningful occasion.

Special remarks were delivered by NCCS President Bina Berma and NRNA Canada General Secretary Chanda Adhikari, who both highlighted the importance of such cultural programs in strengthening unity, identity, and heritage among the Nepali diaspora in Canada.

The ceremony was chaired by NCCS President Bina Berma and emceed by Sudarshan Sapkota, General Secretary of NCCS. The event drew notable attendance from representatives of various Nepali organizations, media personnel, community leaders, and members of the public.

This flag-raising ceremony has served to elevate the pride of Nepal and the Nepali people on the international stage. In closing remarks, General Secretary Sudarshan Sapkota reaffirmed NCCS’s commitment to continuing such meaningful initiatives in the future to further strengthen community solidarity and cultural identity.
