This year the 9th Himalayan Mela will be organized on August 17, 2014. All the people of Nepalese and Non Nepalese origin residing in the GTA and beyond are humbly requested to attend the program. The program will showcase various facets of Nepalese culture and tradition such as folk/modern dances, ethnic costumes, varieties of Nepalese cuisine, art/craft and live music by renowned artists.
The event aims to bring together people of the GTA and beyond and provide a platform for a large number of people to experience and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Nepal. It also creates a space to build inter-cultural link and social harmony respecting Canadian multicultural setting.
The Board of NCCS has already created several committees and appointed Mr. Gopal Bhandari, President, NCCS as the coordinator of Himalayan Mela 2014.

NCCS is a provincial not for profit corporation registered in 2000. Every year NCCS organizes Himalayan Mela at Nathan Philip Square in 3rd Sunday of August. The mega festival is attended by enthusiastic people of Nepalese and Non-Nepalese origin of the GTA and beyond. This year the grand festival is being staged on Sunday, August 17, 2014. The 9th Himalayan Mela 2014 aims to attract at least 1500 community members to the festival by reaching out more than 7000 people of the GTA and beyond through the combination of varied communication medias such as print, broadcasting, online and community outreach.
The major highlights of the grand festival are Nepalese arts and crafts, taste of Nepalese food, music and dance, Information about Nepalese Word heritage sites, presence of various organizations, live performances by famous Nepalese artists from the GTA and beyond etc.
The event is supported by various Governmental as well as Non-Governmental agencies, communities from the GTA and beyond, media partners, business communities, student groups, Women group, youth group, and Nepalese and Non-Nepalese communities of Canada, USA and Nepal.
